China, US must show respect, Hu tells Obama

This is an article written about the first phone call between the Chinese President Hu Jintao and the US President Elect Barack Obama. The two discussed the importance of good communications between the two countries because it is vital for, "the largest developing nation and the largest developed nation," to be able drive this global economy. Hu tried to convey to Obama that this would largely ride on the shoulders of the Taiwan issue and the US backing for the Chineese government. The current economic crisis was discussed and possible solutions were presented for solving said problems. Hu expressed his gratidude towards Obama for his inclusion of China in the involment in the presidential debats and while trade aggrements were presented as a problem, Hu believes it was done tastefully and in good faith. Overall it seemed to be a very productive conversation and good start for the President Elect Barack Obama.

Australia shares similar views on Obama's foreign policy issues. They are fixed on the idea that our president elect will improve foreign relations with good communication between all countries, not only those that are considered allies.
